Sasha Edwards 3D Animation Demo Reel from Sasha Edwards on Vimeo.
My name is Sasha and I grew up in Southern California where I have lived my whole life. Born the youngest of five kids to a single mom there was never a dull moment in our tiny little rented house. Life had its ups and a lot of downs that worked to shape me into the strong woman I am today. At the age of eight I told my mom I wanted to be an animator and she told me to work hard and you can accomplish your dream.
My whole life, I have struggled with an undiagnosed learning disability which made every moment of school life a battle and every homework assignment as challenging as hiking up Mt. Everest. They told me I would never graduate Elementary School, but I did. Time progressed and school grew more difficult and they said I would never graduate Middle School and I proved them wrong yet again. I was then on to High School, with four years left and all of the different classes and multiple teachers school presented a whole new set of challenges. Again, they told me you will not graduate High School, but I held my head up high and decided not to listen to them; I worked hard and guess what? I graduated High School.
I found athletics in High School which was one of the best things for me and helped me push through difficult times. I was a Cheerleader, played Soccer, ran Track and Field and Cross Country. In Track and Field I broke the school record in 100 meter hurdles and Triple Jump, which I am proud to say I still hold to this day. I also won athlete of the year, which was an honor that I was beyond honored to receive. Art and athletics have always been my two biggest passions in life. I went to Community College to pursue an Athletic Training career, with art still a constant hobby and passion. When my mother moved out of state I pushed aside my dreams and school to work full time and support myself.
A few years later I was presented with an opportunity to go back to school in an online atmosphere which allowed me to continue working full time. Academy of Art University gave me the opportunity to pursue my childhood dream of becoming an animator. I worked for ten years full time as the Front Office Manager at a Physical Therapy office while going to school part time which was not without its challenges, meanwhile planning a wedding and becoming a wife. May 2021 I will be graduating from college with a BFA with a focus of 3D Animation.
My whole life staff, teachers, principles, councilors wrote me off as a lost cause. Little did they know I was a fighter, and look at me now. I have lived a life of perseverance and there are days I look back and wonder how I made it out, but I did. I made it out on top with a positive attitude and an ever glowing smile on my face. Life has taught me to overcome and never give up no matter how difficult the road ahead appears to be. Every hurdle in life thus far has presented a unique opportunity to shape myself and become a better person in this ever changing world. I have accomplished things in my life that I didn’t think were possible and I do not plan on stopping. I see a bright future for myself.
