MA - Visual Development, Game Development: 2D Art

Jose Mejia

My name is Jose’ Luis Mejia and I was born in Queens, New York on October 23, 1989. While growing up I developed an obsession with comic books and super heroes which eventually led to the idea of seriously producing art for a living. I drew with whatever I could get my hands on and on top of anything with a blank surface. With much to my delight I discovered paper and have drawn consistently ever since. However, I wouldn’t go directly into the art field right away because after I graduated high school I decided to enlist into the U.S. Marines Corps (2008-2014). After ending my active service I made the decision to pursue an art career and attend the Academy of Art University. During my studies I was able to earn a BFA in Illustration and an MA in 2D Animation. The years studying at the Academy of Art University have allowed my abilities as an artist to become more versatile. It is my wish to use the knowledge that I have obtained to contribute to the entertainment industry.
