Thais Damião was born and raised in a small city in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She spent her childhood playing with her brother and cousins and also drawing all the time. By age 19, she moved to São Paulo to attend the Centro Universitário Belas Artes de São Paulo, where she earned her degree in Graphic Design. In 2015 she decided to follow her dreams of telling stories through illustration, and she is still following her dreams. In 2017 she illustrated her first book, “A Menina Que Colecionava Flores” (The girl who collected flowers) from the writer Mariana Pirajá. In 2018 she moved to California to earn a Master’s in Visual Development for Animation at Academy of Art in San Francisco. Enchanted by children since she was a child, her illustrations are all dedicated to them and also inspired by the enchantment of nature, friendship, the simplicity of a good melody, the sun, the moon, the stars, and pure love.
