Hello! My name is Yuta Kobori. I am a visual development artist who enjoys telling stories through environments, props, and color and light.
I studied woodwork at a Japanese art university for my bachelor’s degree. After that, I moved to San Francisco to join the MFA Visual Development program at Academy of Art University to pursue my dream of working in the animation and entertainment industry.
At school, I studied traditional painting from realism to abstract through direct observation, along with storytelling and design skills for visual development. My goal is to use both 2D and 3D traditional skills to support storytelling, especially through lighting, composition, and shape design.
When I’m free, I watch movies, read books, and walk around neighborhoods to discover unique cafes. I also enjoy exploring new software, which might not sound like a hobby, but it’s so exciting when I discover new techniques and expressions!
I’m ready to dedicate myself to a professional role and willing to relocate for work. I am looking forward to collaborating with you and telling unique stories!
