Joan Kang

Hi, I’m Joan Kang, a visual development artist currently studying for an MFA in visual development at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, with graduation expected in May 2025. My creative journey began in architecture, where I developed a strong foundation in design. However, my lifelong passion for art and animation, especially character design, eventually led me to pivot toward visual development. I find the most joy in bringing characters to life, infusing them with personality and story. This passion inspired me to transition my career from architecture to visual development and pursue further studies at AAU. Now, I aspire to be a visual development artist who helps turn imagination into reality, creating meaningful visuals that inspire, uplift, and bring joy to others.
