BFA - Texturing & Lighting

Scott May

Hello, my name is Scott May.

During my studies at the Academy, I’ve undergone evolutions as my creative abilities merged with my aptitude for solving technical problems. I’ve ended up filling an essential niche that combines my passion for tool creation with experience as a LookDev and Lighting artist in StudioX. For example, during my time as a lead in the studio, I created a tool to assist myself and fellow students in submitting jobs to the academy’s render farm. This tool proved essential in my work, facilitating the many iterations it took to achieve the experimental watercolor style used on the Pier scene for the short film project Finny (See in demo reel). The result is a well-rounded generalist education with expertise in texturing, lighting, rendering, and procedural workflows. My goal has always been to unlock my creative potential to create powerful visuals that capture the human condition, and I believe my work has given me the experience needed to achieve this.
