BFA - Stop Motion

Desirae Moore

Desirae Moore is an award-winning stop-motion artist devoted to capturing childlike whimsy and wonder in her work. While earning her BFA in Traditional Animation and VFX at the Academy of Art University, she focused intensely on honing her craft. Through AAU’s Studio X program, Desirae worked as a stop-motion animator on the horror short “The Golden Calf”, where she discovered her love for puppet animation and creative collaboration.

In her own time, Desirae wrote, produced, and directed her debut short film “Rusty.” She personally handled the animation and fabrication, expanding her skills across a wide range of stop-motion techniques through hands-on experimentation. Vibrant, musical, and heartfelt, “Rusty” reflects Desirae’s artistic identity and storytelling sensibilities. The film earned three awards at the Academy of Art University’s Spring Show: Best Stop-Motion Film, Best Stop-Motion Set, and Best Stop-Motion Puppet.

Across all her projects, Desirae aims to rekindle a sense of childlike imagination and delight in her audience.
