MFA - Visual Development

Joan Kang

Joan Kang is a Bay Area–based visual development artist who solves visual problems, translating ideas and stories into engaging characters, environments, and props. She enjoys contributing to projects through thoughtful design and visual storytelling.

Joan loves designing expressive, playful characters and immersive worlds. With her background in architecture, she develops environments and visual elements that support narrative, mood, and character. Through her work, Joan aims to bring joy, warmth, and imagination.

When she’s not sketching, you’ll find her binging animated films, perfecting her cup of joe, or whipping up treats in her quest to be the ultimate home barista and baker.
